The SCANDALE Project has selected 10 artworks for you at Art Paris Art Fair.

Last week took place the yearly Art Paris Art Fair at the Grand Palais putting on display modern and contemporary art from all over the world.  The Scandale Project decided to make a selection of ten artworks that we liked through various mediums. As the fair claimed to focus on discovering artists, we looked for artists the we didn’t know about yet or that we discover again through a different perspective which is specific to art fairs. Honestly a little bit disappointed compared to previous year, fresh art can still be find, here is our selection. Enjoy.

Aurélien MAILLARD

Galerie Cedric Baqueville, Lille.

Untitled (circular impact) from the serie Impacts, 2012

Painted wood, glue, fiberglass and polyester resin, 360 x 304 cm, various depth, made with the support of la Malterie, Wazemmes art center, Lille, 2012. Private collection

Part of the Impacts serie, the work of Aurélien Maillard can be easily recognized. The exhibition wall seems to suffer from destruction. Is it an artwork ? Did someone come to destroy the wall ? That’s the question one can ask.  Using handmade marquetry technique, our eyes wonder if what we see is real or no, everything is a matter of illusion here. Somehow it is linked to the performance art while the white cube space seems to belong to the artist’s action.

Mixing personal and the moment, Fabien Chalon’s work appears as sculptures full of poetry. The time of the human is what one reflects in Chalon’s work. Mixing here cold neon light with feathers, the different medias seem to do their work on their own while being stuck together in a plexiglas box.

We notice industrial media mixed with handmande work. Of course we recognize the blue paradise in the whole artwork but it seems deconstructed here to let an artistic way of looking at things. If one may be used to see plates hanging on the wall of some family member here it appears at a whole artwork with some kind of humour.

Playing with black and which, horizontal and vertical lines, starting to  recreate the same pattern in his work in the sixties, Knifer also plays with empty and full spaces to let your eyes follow the abyss. Through repetitions with variations, Knifer makes his different work living on their own or as we can see here together.
