Works and lives in Milan, Italy

Francesco De Prezzo’s fascination and insight, into the concepts of time and painting provide a distinct conceptual foundation for his installation and performance works. His paintings, art installations and photos deal with a continual game between the presence and absence of objects in space.
The subjects of his works are fragments or corners of spaces taken from where the artist spends most of his time during the day, his studio, for example. Each of his canvases is like a still frame of the continuous flux of spontaneous images that naturally run uninterrupted in front of his eyes.
In his work he subtracts the real fact, in compositions of simple objects and neutral colours, he searches for a formal and thin balance, to lay down on the canvas over long sessions of painting from life. A face to face relationship with the object slow and continued. As result the realistic painting, the starting point, is canceled by roller and spray-paint. Much like losing the copy job from life did previously.
“Art is the set of poetic gestures and attempts to push always more ‘forward a conscience common.”
