Some objects have a universal fascination ability. They captivate us up to a magical extend. A rare mineral, a sacred artefact, an iridescent beetle, bioluminescent algae, dew-drops… Jonathan tries to create situations which translate the same magnetism by combining elements taken from nature, everyday objects and synthetic materials. His experiments aim to reveal an aura by connecting the natural and the supernatural in the same artefact.
In the manner of an ecosystem, the different series of works or modules that Jonathan produces are forming an interconnected set. These modules can interact or simply cohabit without having a direct apparent link. Each series is like a living species evolving and can lead to more advanced and improved versions. Those that are abandoned are comparable to vestiges relegated to archeology, one of the his other research topics.
