Andrea Martinucci (Rome,1991) live and work between Milan and Rome
Highly influenced by modern psychological readings, in particular by Freud’s works, in 2008 I started to produce works of art. If at the beginning I was focused primarily on inward-looking analysis, then I broadened my horizons to investigate collective processes.
For this reasons in 2010, after a work experience at Goldiechiari, I draw my attention to social matters that are really popular nowadays, such as the aesthetic perception of body and the discrimination against women.
Feeling the need to learn more about those topics and being the art world quite superficial in approaching such issues, I decided to concentrate on the meaning of “contemporary” and on its diverse components. My multidisciplinary approach is based on the use of various means and integrates in the pieces of art paint (that I perceive as a limited instrument) and digital tools.
In the last few years, my artistic research is relying on thorough observation of the world, both in real and virtual (for ex. social media) everyday contexts.
For every project I begin, the realization of works of art is just a part of the art production process. My approach is composed of a primary phase based on reflection and observation and a subsequent one that involves documentation and sharing of the various moments that have brought me to the creation of the work of art.
In this way all my considerations are visible and they truly become part of the artwork, accompanying those who view it and helping their deep comprehension.
From those contexts I represent the contemporary world, making a synthesis and extracting subjects, relations and dynamics that allow spectators to draw the attention to new and surprising meanings.
