Asger Dybvad Larsen, Born 1990, Lives and works in Aarhus, Represented by Rolando Anselmi.
Lately I’ve had an interest in the studio as a kind of dialectical archive of incestuous material compression and how the studio – as something living – affects the idea of this “archive” when the entire structure is constantly in one fluid motion.
At the moment, one of my primary interests lies in the volume and especially the logic of incest of the various painting generations in between; understood as series of works in direct physical interaction with each other – and in a way also referential with parts of the history of art – and in the end – how this affects the evolutionary aspect of an artistic practice.
All of this takes place in a studio where the logic of survival of the fittest, is a question of who and how many “you’ve” been together with.
” Art is – as a concept – something in relation to an activity. It’s about communication, articulation and the history of it. Eventually the interesting question isn’t what art is, but what is good art? “
