Interested in exploring the tensions between perception, physical space, material & subjectivity, Swenson uses sculpture and moving imagery to manipulate the boundary of perception. Defining layers are developed with the intentional use of line, form and grandeur. Swensen often relies on the exhibition contours for support. Positions of stacked materials are not exclusive and can be exchanged in a combination of ways, flexing into a multitude of supporting structures and forms.
” Art is a reflex action, a culmination of abstract needs and feelings. It’s complicated like breathing underwater. ”
