Marco Alvarez born in 1984. Álvarez is a young multi-disciplinary creative artist. He works both as a graphic and interior-designer, as well as a photographer and painter. Additionally, he works, writes and performs experimental music.
Born into an artistic family, and surrounded by creative stimuli he developed sensitivity, respect and attraction to this broad and contradictory world. Marcos studied graphic and interior design in Seville, Barcelona and Rome.
His first attempts at art, (not including comics) were the design and construction of miniature stages and populating them with soldiers. At the age of 13, he changed direction, completely seduced by the worlds of graffiti and and the “Free Art” Movements.
During this time working “on the street” he also became aware of and was influenced by direct stylistic influences from old German and Russian designs. Continually impressed by this new stimuli, he made the transition from traditional Typographical Graffiti to Street Art, bestowing his work with suprematist and minimalistic touches.
Now residing between Amsterdam and Berlin, he is completely surrounded, attracted and stimulated by pictorial abstraction using texture and color.
I am a homosapien humanoid from the Planet Earth. A restless painter, disobedient to formalisms and to the comfort zones.
I do not identify myself with the word “style”; desired and sought after by society; It is like a big prison to achieve the full feelings of freedom and self conditioning. I can even say that I neither want, look for, or have any sense of style to identify myself. So many different factors and circumstances go into the always changing conditioning of my work and personality such as something as basic as my mental state, mood, physical location and materials available to name just a few.
Painting in constant motion, moving around like our cells, or like orbits of the planets and other celestial bodies in the universe, moving like the crazy events that happen every day. Abstraction, saturation and contrast are the backbone of my creations. Subconscious, as my energy is channeled through my work.
Techno like a soundtrack of my life, painting music, painting frequencies, frequencies that make me feel closer to reality, a chemical and artificial reality.
Curiosity, eagerness to discover and share colors, free-flowing colors to create visual and spiritual reactions. Painting as simple as it is complex depending on the interpretation, although at the same time as simple as smiling.
” Art is as simple as laughing, crying, peeing, eating, baking a cake… emotions and actions driven by sensibility, consciousness and love.
Art shows sensitivity, a skill deep rooted in our DNA, something that make humans be diferent from the rest of the beautiful animals.
Art is the remarkable possibility to leave to future generations of our precious planet something beautiful, rather than garbage and pollution. Art is an overvalued word filled with prejudices and BS.
