Maurizio Vicerè aka Vice (1985) lives and works in Pescara, Italy.
He’s a visual artist, multifaceted, cross, instinctively naive. Its neo – conceptual research combines popular elements to philosophical aspects: identifying social dynamics, translated into semantic terms and then transformed in images of contemporary Western culture.
In his recent research has investigated the theme of Taboo in its original definition, next to the Polynesian cultures so that “any reference to the Sacred become unmentionable and not iconic, on pain of death”.
The Tapu Blanks series is the result of a de contextualization of risk and safety phrases from the contents that are applied on canvas or other supports to be approached to parasitical and removable or adhesive elements. The phrases, transferred out in full and no longer subjected to a function, become absolute questions of which only the user is called to respond through the silence.
Currently the artist is engaged in an audio-visual project with the Canadian composer Philippe Vandal where Tapu Blanks dialogue with environmental electronic compositions to give life to a multisensory experience.
” Art is a continuous development of errors, whose failures justifying its progress. “
