Chloe Royer’s works break with one blow, and heal with the other. They look at the body envelope, the flesh, the bones; and imitate them to fix themselves. Among the threads and the bandages, her pieces elaborate healing strategies. A thing whose voice is one; whose feet are four and two and three invents new ones, focusing this time on balance. Whether shoe, pedestal or crutch, the exhibition summons a series of objects questioning both bodily mechanics and sculptural conventions. Borrowing its title from the Sphinx’s enigma to Oedipus, it seeks to examine that to which we hold on.
